How much do funeral programs cost?
Most families need a program within a few days, often before they've had time to compare prices. Here is what programs typically cost, what changes the price, and where you can save — so you can decide quickly and without second-guessing.
Typical price ranges
Print it yourself
A template plus home or office-store printing usually comes in under $100 for 100 copies. It's the least expensive route, but it takes hours of design and folding, often on the night before the service.
Online program printers
Sites that print from a template commonly run about $130 to $250 for 100 four-page programs, plus shipping. You do the writing and layout yourself, and shipping time matters when the service is days away.
Full-service design studios
A designer lays out the program with you, cleans up photos, checks every name, and delivers printed copies. Expect roughly $300 to $800 or more, depending on pages, copies, and turnaround.
Through a funeral home, prices vary widely — some include programs in a package, others charge per copy. Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give you an itemized General Price List, so you can always ask exactly what the programs cost.
What changes the price
Format and page count. Classic is a 4-page bifold; Signature and Heirloom are 8-page booklets with different included services.
Number of copies. More printed copies add to the total. Start with the number of guests you expect.
Paper. Matte, gloss, and linen have different finishes; linen can add to the printing cost.
Photos and collages. More photos can mean more layout work and more pages.
Writing the obituary. Providing finished text keeps the cost down; a professional writer is an additional service.
Turnaround. Rush printing costs more. The service date helps determine the turnaround needed.

Ways to keep the cost down
Order digital design and print it yourself. Take the print-ready PDF to a printer that fits your budget.
Choose a bifold over a booklet. Unless the order of service is long, a bifold may have all the space you need.
Order close to your real headcount. Use the guidance below to leave a little room for extra guests without ordering far more than you need.
Gather photos and the obituary early. Sending them ahead of time helps you avoid rush fees.
Have one person check every name before printing. A careful check can save the cost of a reprint.
Common questions
How many funeral programs should I order?
Estimate how many people you expect, then add about 10 to 20 percent. Programs are often kept as keepsakes and mailed to family who couldn't attend, so running short is more common than having too many.
How far ahead do I need to order?
With us, five or more days before the service is standard pricing; two to four days adds priority turnaround; under two days is rush. Send what you have as early as you can — the rest can follow.
Can I get just the design and print it myself?
Yes. Classic is $395 and Signature is $745 for a print-ready file only. Essential (ready-made layout) and Heirloom (premium stock) are available printed only.
Does the funeral home print programs?
Many do, or work with a printer they know. Ask for their General Price List so you can compare. Some families use the funeral home's printer and ask a studio for the design only.
We'll design it for you.
Share what you have — photos, names, dates, whatever's written so far — and we'll build the program around it.
